The visual representation of the brand is collaged with classic sculptures and fine lines to create a mixture of the hard and the soft - where LIT TATTOO STUDIO steps in to make an impression.
The logotype constructed with five rectangles was simple enough to be a bold image which brings a contrast to the fine lines and detailed and sophisticated images.
The visual language stays with a neutral grey color, which brings a reference to marble - a typical material used in sculpture.
BACKGROUND
Single needle tattooist Sky relocated his own tattoo studio in Beijing in 2021. With his passion in minimalism and his Fine Arts background in sculpture, he approached me with his thoughts on his new store and we worked together on making a visual branding for his own brand: LIT TATTOO.
Sky does a lot of different styles of tattoos, but one of the most favored by him was single needle tattoo, by which he uses only one needle to make the tattoo art. Single needle tattoo looks super delicate, and they normally contain extreme fine lines that look very detailed exquisite. I myself was impressed by his work, so that working with him on this project was very delightful.
I combine paper texture, ink and sculpture into one collage space to create a coherent visual language to represent a combination of modern bold image diving into the ancient world of classical.
Vibrant colors are used as secondary elements that support the main visuals in order to make the design language more vivid and interesting. An informative sticker is being applied to each package of the temporary tattoo, not only they serve as a distinct identifier, but also part of the design that makes each item unique.
